Area: Pimlico, South London
Category: Brazilian

Opened in November 2008, this Pimlico Rodizio has 20 grilled meats to choose from, along with a traditional-style buffet. Eat as much as you like for Ł19.95.

In the past the "Gauchos" (vaqueros of the South Brazilian Rio Grande region) would ride on their horses and wagons to go along with their huge herds for lengthy distances. Throughout theses trips they would stop to rest and to unwind. At this time, all the vaqueros would get together around a bonfire. Then, these fearless men would kill an animal and while some played the guitar, others would prepare the meats by placing them on spits. Once they were well grilled on the outside, the meats were cut in thin slices and then served, this way each one could eat a piece of each type of meat. Nowadays, this is what it's like at Preto.

We decided to visit Preto for lunch. I was intrigued by Maureen and Robs description of it from a previous visit. It was a nice warm sunny day and they had an area set with tables outside so we decided to sit there. The salad area was pretty good, though not really the point of such a place. The meat is where it's at, and if you are a meat lover then you'll be in heaven. Everything that came over, from chicken wrapped in bacon, to the steak, to the sausage was excellent. Succulent and obviously just off the grill.

The selection of beers is very good and indeed the Brazilian beers in particular, and the wines on offer were pretty decent. Atmosphere and decor were great, and the price was certainly value for money. The temptation is evidently to eat oodles, but I became quickly meated out so the buffet bar is a very good reason to have a decent balance of steak with salad.

Preto is meant for those who love grilled meats, white meats (pork, and chicken) or red meats (beef and lamb). These meats are subsequently marinated in lemon juice, garlic, onion and pepper, then grilled over hot coals and ultimately offered on spits, according to the Brazilian concept of "rodízio".

Rodízio at the restaurant Preto - let yourself be taken by the aroma and taste of the food,  you will be simply delighted.

Amazing place ! Cannot recommend highly enough.
